º lesson learning ; an approach to her life

Renxiang puts so much effort into whatever it is she does because she’s been raised to do so. It’s almost natural for her to put in her absolute focus into something. She takes in as many sights and sounds as she can. If it’s physical work that needs to be done, nothing will be left untouched (or alive if it’s supposed to be dead). While her mother taught her social graces—how to be a wife, provide for her future children, and always maintain that filial love with her father—her father taught her what it meant to be a warrior, and what it meant to fight. He taught her never to do a disservce to the art of wielding a weapon. These lessons too have shaped her mentality, and gave her a need to cover all of her bases. The teachings from her parents also set her up to try and be ready for anything. If she’s becoming someone’s wife, then, naturally, she’s going to work on that aspect of her life, as she’s got a set list of things that are to be done in the short and long run. If she’s fighting in a battle, then she’s going try her hardest to figure out every potential movement she could make, and every place to strike to slow down or kill her opponents.

º acceptance ; handling failures

If, by chance, Renxiang’s efforts wound up amounting to nothing and she is to suffer a defeat or any potential setback, depending on the situation she will either accept the failure or deny it. In both cases, she will muse and brood over it for a while. It’s in Renxiang’s nature to do so, and sometimes it will eat at her depending on the nature of the situation. If there is a failure in the realm of her being a wife (and possibly a mother) she will lament over it because of the duties that have been preset for her (‘have sons to become prominent and smart, have daughters to marry off to men of note; pretty much it’s have children so you can effectively have a purpose until you’re older and then you have some more actual freedom, okay?’). If there is failure in the realm of being a fighter, she will resign herself to training and wondering where she went wrong, making quiet apologies to her father all the while.

º remember me ; Renxiang with potential allies/companions

When she’s built up relationships with people on her travels (wherever really), and has gotten to know them, she merely asked to be considered and remembered. Because her family was never really any kind of prominent landholding gentry (i.e. having some sort of political power in the affairs of their hometown), chances are she’d pretty much be a concubine before a legal wife. She knows this and it bothers her to a point where it affects even non-romantic relationships. Ask her for input, ask her for an opinion. The smallest thing helps; she doesn’t want to rest idly on the sidelines and be doomed to watching. She likes actively supporting those she associates with.

º hide emotion ; when she’s consumed

When Renxiang is burdened with too many of her negative emotions, they eat at and consume her and she becomes a terribly cruel and vindictive person. She lashes out at others, and control is lost for a time. She widdles the objects of her anger down to nothing and it makes her hard to be around. She isn’t supposed to hold onto anger for so long, but she does because she feels she’s been wronged, or that things aren’t right at all. She’ll have an extremely hard time adjusting to the change. When things calm though, whoever has wronged her or been a source of great ire would have to do a lot to be remotely redeemable.
